Stenop glasses
Stenop glasses are a visual aid that replaces traditional lenses with dozens of small holes. Also known as a pinhole or rasterbrille glasses, they are usually made of metal or plastic. Glasses work on the principle of stenotic vision: looking through the holes leads the mind to think that the vision is focused, which makes them useful in the treatment of many vision disorders. Eye disorders, such as nearsightedness, are caused by light that refracts the eyes poorly. Stenop glasses block light and keep vision centered.
This type of Stenop glasses are more popular for relieving the symptoms of cataracts, but can also be used to treat a wide range of eye ailments such as hyperopia, presbyopia and myopia – reducing these symptoms by up to 80%. Although they can improve vision, they should be used with caution. they should not be used while operating machinery or driving, as they may reduce peripheral vision.

Spanish designer Nacho Marti has created an inexpensive and easily transportable version of pinhole glasses as a “first aid kit” for people in developing countries. Traditional eyewear can be very expensive for people in developing countries, and Marti’s eyewear offers a solution for children and adults who have to rely on charitable donations from other countries. Although stenop glasses can be almost as expensive to produce as traditional glasses, Marti’s design makes it possible to produce large volumes quickly and inexpensively. His Stenop glasses have received design awards and have gained worldwide attention.
These glasses are considered by some in the natural health field as a permanent alternative to traditional crystal glasses; they say stenosis glasses help shape the eyes and, when combined with special eye exercises, can reverse eye damage. Although anti-stenosis glasses may provide a short-term solution to eye problems, they are not currently approved by the medical community at large as a permanent treatment.
